Put aside your petty prejudices. Yes, this is the smiling always bouncing woman who infuriated on Blue Peter, chucked the DJ for the TV producer and has no (full time) children of her own (but she does borrow them often, I'm told). Once, I hated her with avengeance and I sat down to watch the first series fully prepared to laugh (at her) to mock (her) and to walk away with my sanity intact. I am still sane, but..... Oh My Goodness! I couldn't mock or deride or hate her anymore! She is absolutely potty, yes, and takes cleaning to an uber dimension, but she does have a lovely house and the dogs are cute and..... (whisper this quietly) she does actually have good ideas that I know I need to do. Worth watching for all the ideas, inspirations and the fact that there are people out there with worse (by which I mean dirtier) houses than mine. Oh, and the turkey handling at Christmas is one of the funniest things I've ever seen. Get a life, ladies!
This DVD works as a practical guide and as an ironic statement on the fact that feminism has released women from the tyranny of 'enshackled' housework.... and left us victims of ignorance and misguided beliefs that there is a self cleaning house. As post feminists, we need to be able to admit that sometimes our place is in the kitchen, the bedroom, the living room and that Housework is valuable (although unpaid) work. Think of it in terms of Charity work and it assumes another dimension... and charity does begin at home, doesn't it?
