Happy sigh. I just finished another Super Agent book by Misty Evans. The Perfect Hostage is a novella featuring Lucie Morgan and John Quick. We saw them both in I'd Rather Be In Paris, which is Book 2 in the series, but if you haven't read that one, no worries, you can enjoy this one just as much. In fact, I read that one so long ago, I sort of forgot how the two of them met back then (shhh, don't tell anyone). If you have read the series, you will find the same great writing and dynamic characters as the others.
The Perfect Hostage takes place in just a matter of a couple of days and the relationship has to build fast. John and Lucie knew each other form the past so we come into their relationship in that awkward, 'are we or aren't we' stage. The quick rundown is that John thinks Lucie is too good for him, but Lucie thinks otherwise. John doesn't want to put Lucie in a place that would hurt her if something happened to him. Lucie wants to be a part of a family. Hmm.
Misty does a great job with the timeline she is given to work with in The Perfect Hostage. In addition to watching the relationship unfold, we get a little suspense and action. Just when the two are reveling in their blissful weekend, a couple of intruders break in for an attempted kidnapping. That's when everything all hell breaks loose.
Misty always does a nice job with action scenes but what I have found is that her intimate scenes are getting hotter and she writes them so well. For the length of this novella, she does a great job of pulling you in with the romance and passion and then drops the action and suspense on you. I loved it! If you like romantic suspense I highly recommend you give The Perfect Hostage a try and hopefully it will make you want to read the others in the series. If you have already read the others, you will not want to miss this one!
