I, along with zillions of others no doubt, remember when this track was re-issued with about 50 artists having a line or two each, for Band Aid or comic relief or some such charitable activity. (I liked Dr John's intervention) BUT I am long enough in the tooth to remember Lou Reed's original version on one of the best albums to be released at the time, "Transformer" which I urge all of you to listen to, at very least. So......when, after almost 30 years of requesting the hand of my paramour, her resolve weakened and we got out our Zimmer frames and shuffled up the registry office aisle, the sentiments contained seemed to be perfect for the occasion. They were and indeed a "Perfect Day" ensued, including a night in a four poster bed in a 14th century drover's inn (The Rhydspence) half way between Hay and Brecon in the beautiful and underrated Wye Valley. Who would have believed that the mutterings of Lou Reed would have borne such fruit a quarter of a century down the line?!!
