The debut album of a three man band from Bergen, Norway, The Perfect Cure has received rave reviews from across Europe. There is a constant undercurrent of electronic sounds and the singer's voice is sometimes reminiscent of Suede's Brett Andersen. The album is a mix of slow thoughtful songs like Hold and The Water and forthright energised tunes like Twenty Years Underwater and the title track Perfect Cure. Although some songs are about emotions the singer's voice is never too moany and there is plenty of variety (slow and fast) in the album. Lipgloss, has got plenty of good melody guitar picking and the vocals add a meaningful tone to the song. Best song of the album is definetely Twenty Years Underwater and again the melody and backing electronics are original and the lead vocals simply cool! As often, one must rely on Norway to provide original new bands. But, like all good albums, all songs are worth listening to. Overall, a good introduction to the multitude of original, funky talent coming from Norway. If you like to experiment with your music and like the sound of funky electrics with a good voice then buy this album!
