Ten adventures with everyone's favourite park keeper, as voiced by Jim Broadbent. In 'Sledge Ride', Percy and his chums build sledges and have fun in the snow. 'The Rabbit Who Was Afraid of the Dark' sees Percy advising a rabbit who is afraid of the dark to eat more carrots. In 'One Warm Fox', a fox and his chum the Scarecrow borrow some of Percy's clothes to keep warm in the cold winter night. 'The Hedgehog's Balloon' features Percy coming up with a solution to burst balloons for the prickly hedgehog. Whilst in 'Fox's Hiccups', the fox gets hiccups after being told a joke by the squirrel whilst drinking some lemonade. In 'The Hedgehog's Wings', Hedgehog builds himself some wings so that he can fly like a bird. 'The Owl's Lesson' sees Owl attempting to help a little bird that doesn't know how to fly, and in 'Badger's Bath', Percy tells Badger that he must have a bath before he can come to tea. 'A Very Useful Little Friend' sees Mouse getting in the way when Percy, Fox and Badger decide to tidy the shed. The final story is 'Owl Takes Charge'.

There are five Percy tales on this video, each lasting approx. 10 minutes. The stories are perfectly pitched for young children, relating to the animals building a sledge and having fun in the snow, a rabbit who was afraid of the dark, a fox who borrows some of Percy's woolly jumpers to keep him warm at night, Percy solving the problems faced by Hedgehog who loves balloons but finds they keep bursting on his prickles and Fox experiencing hiccups that just will not stop! The characters are appealing and beautifully drawn by Nick Butterworth. My two year old son and I were captivated by this gentle and deeply enjoyable animation. The stories are just the right length for short attention spans, although I must admit that once we began watching we were hooked until the end of the final story!I would recommend this video for any 2-5 year old and am sure that a Percy the Park Keeper video, especially with one of the books to accompany it, would make an ideal gift. As with anything connected with Nick Butterworth, this is a real treat.

This DVD is a rare gem in childrens entertainment. Percy is a kind, caring 'gardener' who lives in his little shed (very well equiped for a small space) with all his animal 'friends' around. All lovely episodes with good stories teaching children about caring for the environment and other people/animals. Would thoroughly recommend as 'family viewing'. We all love it in our house.

Perfect childrens viewing. Lots of easy to watch episodes. The stories are fun and inventive. Current favorites are the one about the hedgehog who can't hold a balloon with out popping it and the one about the rabbit who is freightened of the dark. All the stories are beautifully told and very entertaining. You'll love them.

Link these DVD's to the new early years curriculum regarding...
a very good DVd with good clear English spoken. Children can learn to understand and repeat common phrases and subsequently use these in their writing
