2 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Emmster TOP 500 REVIEWER on 17 May 2012
Format: Paperback
Percy is a fun loving little engine that likes to play tricks.
He winds up Gordon and causes James to sit in the engine sheds for a day with his mind-games.
The Fat Controller gives him a telling off and then Thomas asks him to take home some children from the beach.
A storm causes Percy to have a terrible journey home - he almost gives up but then remembers he promised Thomas.
Things look bleak as there's so much water on the line - but Percy pulls through with a Herculean effort and the children make it home.
Everyone thinks Percy is great and he realises that being a Really Useful Engine is what counts.

My son likes this one a lot. I think it's because it has a goodly amount of 'struggle' in it - also Harold the helicopter makes an appearance; always a winner in our house.

Nice illustrations and a tough book - as per usual.

Gave this as a gift to a nephew and he thoroughly enjoyed it. It is still going strong several months later.
