Product Description

CD Description

Curated by swing connoisseurs, hip DJs and vintage style icons Broken Hearts, Peppermint Candy is a two CD collection charting the story of the swing genre via the most danceable swing songs from the 1920s to the present day, connecting the Harlem hep cats of the 1930s to today’s sexy, exuberant clubbers of the electro swing scene. Here, Frank Sinatra rubs shoulders with Andre 3000 and Ella Fitzgerald collides with Imelda May. The album coincides with a growing interest in all things vintage, as well as the Broken Hearts Jazz FM radio show, also called Peppermint Candy.

Great Listening 29 July 2011
By M. Dowden HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Lets face it, everyone seems to love good old swing. Although it lost some of its popularity in the latter part of the last century over here, definitely by the end of the last century it was starting to revive, and has carried on doing so since then to a wider audience. As swing is a sub-genre of jazz it is rather apt that Jazz FM have their name on the cover.

With 46 tracks there is a bit of everything here, from old stuff to much newer, including Christina Aguilera's brilliant 'Candy Man'. The quality of the recordings are usually quite good, but please remember that some of the tracks on this are quite old, and on these inevitably you do get a bit of crackling.

Ideal for listening to the garden, on your MP3 player, at home or in the car this album is great to listen to, and is ideal for background at a barbecue, making it a great album for the summer. If you are like me then you know that swing can make you feel a bit happier and able to cope with everyday life.

Dazzling! 21 July 2011
This is a well thought out swing compilation - it contains some swing classics but is also full of contemporary swing acts. Fantastic!
