I bought this for my 4 year old and my disc also has the aspect ratio issue mentioned by the other reviewers (which by the way had no effect whatsoever on the viewing pleasure of my daughter!)
However, I decided to contact the makers who were extremely helpful. They explained that they had identified a faulty batch and anyone with a faulty disc is advised to either return the disc to the retailer from which they bought it or go to the Peppa Pig website where there is information on how to get a replacement disc. The replacement will have the letter A printed after the seven digit item number on the disc.
Despite the flaw, my daughter still loved the DVD and we look forward to receiving a replacement soon!

As mentioned by the previous reviewer, there's a problem with aspect ratio.
Menus do come in 16:9 widescreen, but all episodes are cropped to 4:3 and then stretched to 16:9.
So viewing is a pain, as you need to switch the picture format on your TV set from 16:9 to 4:3 and back while going from the menu to episodes. Or else just stick with 4:3 and see all menus squashed.
And even then the crop of the episodes is unpleasant and distracting, as there's a good part of the picture missing, so characters will often appear off screen or with just their nose visible while saying something and/or being a part of the action.
Is this an official DVD at all? There's no reason for such cropping, unless you record the episodes from telly or something and then need to remove the channel branding by cropping the content this way.

While the content and stories are enjoyable as always, there's a serious problem with the authoring of this disc. It's billed as "anamorphic widescreen" but instead of true 16:9 it appears that a widescreen original has been cropped to 4:3 (badly--the missing side content is obvious) and then stretched to 16:9. The visual appearance--everything is too wide or too fat--is unpleasant and distracting, enough so that it may be noticeable even to children, especially if they're familiar with earlier "Peppa Pig" DVDs, almost all of which are true widescreen.
The menus and previews seem correct, but the actual episodes exhibit this issue.
On some TVs there are controls so that the picture can be "shrunk" back to a 4:3 aspect ratio but that's also unpleasant because of the cropping.
If this was deliberate, I can't understand why the makers would choose to produce this particular DVD this way when all previous "Peppa Pig" DVDs were done correctly. And if it was a mistake, I can't understand how the mistake could have been overlooked until the DVDs were actually manufactured and shipped to customers.
UPDATE: The issue has now been fixed, and new orders should not exhibit the problem.
Amazon replaced my faulty copy; the whole process could hardly have been easier. Excellent customer service as always.
I've upgraded my rating accordingly. Another excellent release from Astley-Baker-Davies.
