Book Description

10 Oct 2011
Pepe: My Autobiography is the fascinating personal account of his rise to the top of the game. From winning the World Cup, FA Cup and European Championships, to the agony of a Champions League final defeat and surviving the off-pitch drama that tore one of the country's greatest football clubs apart. Pepe has witnessed first hand the rise and fall of Rafa Benitez's Spanish revolution at Anfield and gives his revealing insight on some amazing Kop glory nights as well as the controversial departures of compatriots Xabi Alonso and Fernando Torres. He also speaks openly about the ill-fated reign of Roy Hodgson and the events that forced him to consider his Reds future before new American owners and Kenny Dalglish's triumphant return prompted a reversal in the club's fortunes. Away from Liverpool, Pepe paints a colourful portrait of his legendary Spanish team-mates and also reveals how a bitter professional experience suffered by his goalkeeper father provided him with the personal inspiration to succeed. Pepe: My Autobiography is an essential read for any Liverpool fan wanting to get the inside story on one of the most popular players of the modern era.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the most honest football books for years 14 Oct 2011
By Dirk
Pepe speaks from the heart. The Glove is one of the big characters in the Anfield dressing room and his love for Liverpool and the fans comes through strong in the book. I'd read a lot of extracts in the papers but there is so much more he reveals. I couldn't put it down. I won't spoil it, but there is an hilarious story about one of the fancy dress parties with the boys! Nice foreword from David Villa as well...

5.0 out of 5 stars Straight from the heart 13 Nov 2011

There are quiet a few obvious reasons Pepe Reina's book should be of an interest to a Liverpool fan, Spain supporter or football afficianodo. Here are another two- its written very well and comes out in a very friendly and sincere way. Obviously a devoted Reds fan would find important insights about the slump in 2009-2010, departure of the likes of Xabi Alonso and th infamous transfer of Fernando Torres and the resurgence under King Kenny. But also, Reina's observations about the game, top Spanish and Liverpool players and his humble and cordial style leave a lasting impression. I couldn't put it down and thoroughly recommend it

5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding autobiography 13 Dec 2011
By Mikey
This is one of the best sport autobiographies I have ever read. A definite must read for all Liverpool fans. He expresses his views very well especially the bad times of the previous American owners who didn't care about the club and wanted to just line their very deep pockets.
