a below par, annoying listening experience,

Sorely disappointing, below par live recording. I'm writing these review just because I think music buyers should be warned.
Nowadays recording equipments allow artists to put out live recordings which are rich, with full dynamics, profound bass and neatly defined trebles, capable of matching studio quality. Blur, on the contrary, come out with this "thing", this muddy, indistinct recording, which would have been judged not-state-of-the art even 40 years ago (I own 1970's live recordings which sound better than this). Beside the mediocre sound, the band itself doesn't add up to much, for most part of the concert sounding uninspired and flat. Or maybe they sound flat precisely because they "sound" flat. Either way, the real question is: WHY? Why are Blur releasing recordings like these?

One for those who've been to the gig I think!,

I didn't go to the Hyde Park gig but as a Blur fan I was eager to snap us this CD and have a listen.
The Hyde Park gig came swiftly after Blur's storming performance at Glastonbury and I just can't help but think the band really used up much of its energy and drive in that gig. The vocals sound strained and tired, and the sound quality just doesn't sound as good as that I remember at Glastonbury. I should state that I don't go to Glastonbury as I'm one of those few music fans that would like to go to festivals for the music rather than the name, so my impressions of the two are based on what I saw on TV and the CD and have to admit the glastonbury one felt really quite emotional. I don't feel that with this Hyde Park recording. Maybe that'll change when I get the "No distance to Run" dvd that's out soon. Anyway, it's still a good listen and probably sounds even better for those that went there.
