Not the most exciting piece of kit but your lovely little camera won't work without one, so having a charged spare battery at hand can be a lifesaver. Battery life on the Optio S is generally very good but if you are going on a trip where opportunities to charge up are going to be limited buy a spare now. Nothing is more irritating than your camera packing up halfway round somewhere amazing. Charge time is very quick and it keeps charged up for weeks when not in use.

My digital camera is now about 6 years old, very old in todays standard. In the shops it was impossible to buy anymore and some suppliers offered "imitations". I am glad I checked Amazon to find an original Pentax battery.
