Product Description

Product Description

The four hundred marks reproduced within these pages represent the diverse array of identity work produced by Pentagram's partners, past and present, since the company was founded in 1972. Over the past four decades, Pentagram has designed marks for large corporations and small businesses, government agencies and non-profit institutions, clubs and societies, and even individuals, all of whom were seeking a representative symbol to appear on letterhead and books, buildings and websites, and everywhere else imaginable. Previously only distributed in a limited edition, this invaluable book is now made available in a paperback version and will provide inspiration for all graphic designers working on identity projects.

I've long admired the work of Pentagram. Particularly their marks.

This book serves as a quick reminder that colour isn't necessary in logo design, and that the idea is what counts (not 3D effects or gradients).

The five bookmarking ribbons sown into the spine are a nice touch -- one I've not seen before. If you're looking for a book about process, this isn't it. Pentagram Marks is more of 'final product' showcase, used to highlight the high standard set by the agency.

This is an exceptionally good collection of logos from Pentagram. Even though it's printed in black and white, the logos are visually strong, distinct and classy. The variety of style is great and varied. The client list is also impressive, from small businesses to well known corporations.

Highly recommended to logo designers.

I had been waiting for this book for sometime, so when it arrived at my door I couldn't wait to tear off the packaging and take in it's content.
The layout is so simple which makes each mark fly of the page when you look through them, all are in a solid black or greyscale depending on the complexity of colour in the originals, which really pushes you to inspect the detail in the shapes rather than be taken in by pretty colours.

With 400 marks featured in this book there is always something new to discover and for me it acts as a fantastic resource for design work (I work mostly with identity design) or even as a quick browse when you have a few spare moments.

Utterly beautiful, a must have for any lover of marks and forms, or even of Pentagram's work in general.
