3.0 out of 5 stars Full of stories missing that extra punch 27 Nov 2012
By Faith Allen - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
A group of stories I had high hopes for but fell flat. Not bad but not good either, just ehhh. The Recreational Vampire, I did not care too much for this story, it wandered around too much and I kept losing attention with the story. It didn't particularly scare me very much either, probably due to the over explanation of each scene. Anonymous had a nice premise, hard to find mummy stories now days. The dialog was a little unbelievable; I tried closing my eyes to see how these two would actually talk, "Poor guy. I just wish they'd put his name on the coffin so we can return him to his rightful place in history. He might even show up in the records somewhere." It doesn't seem natural, but all in all a slightly creepy story until it ended abruptly. I liked Medium Rare though, a thought provoking story. Slaves of slumber was another one I liked, a little more description would have helped. The rest of the stories were so-so. I was hoping to find one that would have keeping my head under the blankets all night and jumping when the cat jumped on the bed but I didn't find one. A little more fleshing out of the stories may have made this scarier or suspensful.
3.0 out of 5 stars A few fun stories for horror fans 9 May 2013
By Sarah J. Iozzio - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a fun little horror anthology, though about a third of the stories also appear in A Fancy Dinner Party. Of the stories that were "new to me", most felt a little too short, but were serviceable quick reads that left me imagining what happened after the story ended. The true star of the collection is Austin Malone's Medium Rare, a well-written gem of a story that is satisfyingly complete. His attention to detail and ability to present a fleshed out character in a short amount of time sets the reader up for a truly horrifying conclusion.
5.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Way to Introduce Some New Authors 10 Jan 2013
By Brandon Myers - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
While this book may not be "Blown Away Spectacular", it is most assuredly entertaining. However, it's greatest strength lies in all of the contributing authors. New, and, I assume, relatively unheard of, this book is a great starting point to Introduce yourself to some new names in sci-fi and horror.
