Product Description

Original score to the Showtime series composed by Abel Korzeniowski. Abel's past credits include the scores to Julian Fellowes' adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, A Single Man and Escape From Tomorrow. Some of literature's most terrifying characters, including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula are lurking in the darkest corners of Victorian London. Penny Dreadful is a frightening psychological thriller that weaves together these classic horror origin stories into a new adult drama. Produced by acclaimed Oscar winning director, Sam Mendes and Oscar winning writer, John Logan. The show stars top notch actors Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Josh Hartnett, Billie Piper, David Warner and a nice cast of supporting actors.

Darkness has never sounded more beautiful and alluring 26 Sept. 2014

Main theme is fantastic - simultaneously dark/scary, urgent/driving, and deliriously, sweepingly and unrepentantly romantic. My one complaint is I wish some of the tracks to be longer! Although variations of themes do reoccur and make appearances in other tracks. Highlights for me personally (aside from the main title theme) -- pieces related to the Dorian, Frankenstein, Proteus and Caliban characters in the show. Especially track 5 (Street.Horse.Smell.Candle) -- the first time I heard it while watching the show I thought it so perfectly conveyed the wonder and beauty of the Proteus character's experience taking his first venture outside with Dr. Frankenstein and it equally applied to conveying the wondrous and beautiful soul of Proteus. Overall a gamut of emotions evoked by the soundtrack -- frightful, achingly yearning, mysterious, swoonful, melancholic, momentous, joyful, open-ended (in other words -- we want more!).

Beautiful atmospheric music. Dark Victorian vibe, matches the program perfectly.
