Very informative 7 Mar 2011

Peter Haining's books are always of interest. I have heard of 'Penny Dreadfuls' but as they are fairly rare and expensive (they cost a little more than a penny now) I've had very little exposure to them beyond a few prints in Peter Haining's Terror! book. The book has a good introduction, as well as short but useful intros to all the stories. I've never read any of the authors before, some were good, some terrible. The book was worth every penny.
