MY PENGUIN OSBERT IN LOVE is the sequel to author Kimmel's MY PENGUIN OSBERT. Osbert lives in a zoo now and his former owner, Joe, now flies helicopters. A day or so before February 14th, Osbert shows up at Joe's house with several of his penguin friends. Osbert and his friends have escaped from the zoo because they have received an invitation from Aurora Australis, the President of the Penguin Life Society, to come to the South Pole and view the southern lights on February 14th. Osbert is Joe's friend and wants to help, but his mother's Mid-Winter bash is the same day. What's a boy with a penguin for a friend to do? Fly his helicopter to the South Pole, of course! Since Joe can fly he figures they can take the trip and get back in time for his Mom's big bash. But when Joe and the penguins get to the South Pole, Osbert falls in love and Joe starts to freeze. The warm illustrations are quite colorful and do a good job of accompanying the text and providing younger readers with a visual element to what is happening. Overall a rather short, but charming story that young penguin lovers and lovers of penguins are sure to enjoy.
