Excellent,

I first saw this book in the Tate Modern Shop, and each little illustration is a mini work of art. It is beautifully illustrated and a joy to read (and re-read) and all three of my children love it, even the eldest and he's 7!! It particularly appeals to my 2 year old. I've bought 2 more copies to give to friends this Christmas. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely book, all the better for its simplicity and minimalism. A little boy gets a penguin for his birthday and tries all sorts to provoke a reaction from it, but to no avail. Penguin remains silent. Then the boy gets a lion, and it is the lion that finally causes the penguin to react, with a smashing double page finale. The simple strong pictures make for great fun for 2-5 (and their parents).

Our daughter adores penguins, so I had to read it when I found it on the shelf. I have never laughed out loud in a store choosing a book, but there's always a first time and this was it!
We gave it to our five year old this morning, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all from five to forty, with a nine and eleven year old in the middle. A new bookshelf favourite, we love it! Goes right up there with 'Monkey See, Monkey Do'.
