Book Description

The aged Earl of Haversham was in need of a wife, and an heir. So, he bartered a marriage to young Penelope, and brought her to Farnsworth Manor as the new mistress there. The only problem was that Penelope liked her former life just fine. She didn't want to wander around a dusty old mansion, while her belly swelled up until she waddled like a duck. At least not alone. But there were a number of young, nubile servant girls about the place. And a number of handsome young men as well. So she hatched a plan. She wouldn't BE alone. And if her aged, soused husband couldn't do his duty to help produce the heir he demanded, then that was a problem she thought she could overcome as well. Could she debauch the entire household? Her butler tells the story, with snippets pulled from his journal. He knows what happened. Now you will, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Penelope, Mistress of the Manor 17 Feb. 2014

A wonderfully different book, although somewhat racy, it shows a much more enlightened approach to life above and below stairs. I wonder if there ever were any English country houses adopting such a liberating lifestyle as this one.

His best book yet. I was beginning to despair that I would get a novel worth reading. It is more akin to historical erotic genre in style but commendable

This one was a much longer, almost novel length, which required a great deal of thought to keep a great story flowing and very interesting. Looking forward to the next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Jolly good romp! 17 May 2014

Penelope, Mistress of the Manor, -- what a woman indeed!! Robert Lubrican weaves another scintillating tale of erotic intrigue and good fun captained by the 'Mistress' herself as she leads her unwitting, but, eventually, willing, staff - male and female - into scandalous and compromising adventures. This story is set within the Georgian or regency era in England and the prose aptly frames the plot as it accelerates dramatically. Penelope's doings are eloquently recounted by the mistress' faithful, yet scandalized, butler, Wadsworth. The reader should be constantly kept enticed and interested as this story twists and turns through many narrow escapes while Penelope endeavors to bear an heir for her new husband, the Lord of the Manor -- whether his or someone else's! A jolly good romp!

as far as erotica goes, I love robert lubricant. his stories are just so entertaining a bond well written, and it's my own sinful nature that craves taboo stories. so this was an excellent match.

While not formally educated, I do consider myself well read. Never have I had to reference the dictionary so often in any previously read book. A re-read will be required to bookmark all the new words so aptly applied to the story of a manor like no other and of a woman every man should meet.

Penelope, "Penny" is lady of the manor with ideals that are as deliciously decadent as they are a fantasy. Who cares? Storyline is Penny arrives at the manor with the fear of losing everything unless she can provide an heir to the future. Since the incumbent Lord is generally awash in drink or too old or too tired to initiate the proceedings, Penny decides its time for everyone living at the Manor to have lots and lots of sex and get "with child" --- including herself. Fortunately there are as many staff (male and female) as there peep-holes throughout, for the stern and senior overseer to check out and record all that happens. His descriptions are a wild contrast between what every male/female WANTS to do, in contrast with the morals and limitations of the day dictate And, that heaven-forbid should never be done. The result is a well written, easy to follow "starchy" romp that uses all the pages to carry the reader along through a fantasy story that --- tickles the mind throughout. I personally thoroughly enjoyed. Sadly I have still to meet anyone like Penny...more's the pity.
