In response to the whisk(e)y thing; it's not that simple but tends towards: malted barley and twice distilled = no "e" (cf especially Scotland and also Japan, who took the ball and somehow broke the speed of light with it). But the spelling is the spelling; it doesn't dictate the process and the process doesn't dictate it. Whichever spelling is on the end result just gives you a decent guess at what you can expect and no more; Penderyn (this...expression, or whatever) and at least two others I have to hand use "whisky". Which coincidentally ties in with their (what I believe is a) Scotch-like malted-barley, twice-distilled production and single malt bottling. So it's whisky. If they decided to spell it "wieskeh", it'd be wieskeh. Besides; after you've drunk a bottle, who cares?! Pedantry over.

Because I'm not drunk enough yet I got caught up on the minutiae of another review rather than stating my very simple review, which is: the nose (and I hate to use such a term, but I think that's what the snobs say and that's for any connoisseur who'd discard my input otherwise) on this is TOSS. A paintstrippery, perfumey smell that I can only compare to a bog-standard Glenrothes that you happen do be drinking in a sherry cellar.

But the taste (palate? get off my back already) is quite belied by such hellish odours. Hell, it's no LaSanta, but if you can get this for around thirty quid when there's nothing better on offer give it a go. Perfectly drinkable and it's great to see these guys playing around with their casks.

Also from a purely functional point of view, the ABV's 46% so if your endgame is the same as mine you're gonna win faster. Just sayin'.

This is by far one of my favourites. It's so smooth, sweet smelling and has a slight taste of Sherry. This whisky rolls off your tongue in terms of flavour. It's all provided in steps rather than all at once.

I haven't tried this malt as it is a present for my husband for Christmas but going by other reviews I am hoping he will love it. The presentation is spot on and it looks like a quality product. Perfect present for a man who never knows what he wants for Christmas and good to try something from Wales for a change.

Everyone is getting this wrong, only Whisky from Scotland is spelt that way, this is Welsh and has the additional 'e', making it Whiskey
