Product Description

Product Description

Peltor Optime II Hearing Protectors have been developed with demanding, noisy environments in mind, and are effective in reducing even extremely low frequency sound. They are suitable for use in areas where users are exposed to substantial industrial noise or construction machinery, around airports and in agricultural settings.

These hearing protectors consist of rigid cups with soft plastic cushions that seal around the ears to reduce noise. Comfortable and easy to use, they are a popular choice of hearing protection and are suitable both for intermittent use and longer duration tasks. Peltor Optime II Hearing Protectors incorporate wide sealing cushions which are filled with a unique combination of fluid and foam. The result is an optimum seal with low pressure at the point of contact with the user’s head, meaning they are comfortable to wear even during extended periods of use.

This pack contains one pair of dark green ear muffs on a headband. The headband is adjustable in order to achieve a good seal and comfortable fit for each user. Peltor Optime II Hearing Protectors are also available on a neckband. For greater protection or environments with higher levels of noise, choose Peltor Optime III Hearing Protectors.

Peltor and Optime are trademarks of 3M Company.

Very comfy and superb muffling qualities. I'm a drummer and was looking for some comfy ear protection (hate the plug type ones)as I was starting to get a bit of tinnitus. I was worried that they'd be too good and I wouldnt be able to hear what I was playing but they take out just the right amount of high frequency noise and my drums sound great through them. So, in short, if you're a drummer these are brilliant for practice and miles cheaper than the specialist drummer headphones you can buy.

I bought these to try and keep the sound down to help me sleep. Since wearing them I no longer have been woken up by the emergency services' sirens, drunk people shouting in the street, the washing machine and my neighbours clattering about in the kitchen at all hours. They don't cut out all sound i.e. if you have the television on, you will hear some sounds (mainly bass), albeit in a very muffled way. They are comfortable enough to wear in bed, and I haven't found they put too much pressure on my face so I can wear them for long periods - a problem with previous ear defenders. Unlike other cheaper ear defenders, they don't have bits that stick out on the outside of the cup which get caught on things (e.g. pillows when you are trying to sleep!).

We had been looking for good quality ear defenders for our daughter who has a chronic illness and is skin/noise sensitive. We therefore needed ones that weren't too tight or could be adjusted, and that worked!
We bought 2 different types after reading amazon reviews. This one, the Peltore Optime II, was by far the better of the two. Firstly, as the head 'clamp' is covered metal, we were able to bend them out slightly to make them not as tight on the head.
Secondly, they work well at cutting down noise! I have tried them myself and although you can still 'hear' sounds, noise is a lot quieter and far more bearable/muffled and seems further away. Obviously it depends on the type of noise eg high/med/low pitched as to how much it is dulled. (deeper vibrations such as building works can still be heard, as we found out when our adjoining neighbours had work done!, but again, it makes it far more bearable)
The ear defenders are very good quality, feel robust and well made. So much so that we are now buying a second pair! They are more comfortable than the other type of ear defenders we bought, now stored away, unused,in a cupboard. These are lovely and fairly lightweight.
We bought our Peltore Optime II from Rubber Sole Healthcare, who provided fast delivery and items were well packaged.

I got the Optime II becouse my old Peltors fell apart; (After 26 years and hopping around the world), Great bit of kit, good price for the product you get. Still as good as the milatary ones I replaced them for. As i still world hop, should have gone for the fold-up pair!

I bought these ear defenders to SLEEP in as my partner snores. When we go on holiday i dont always have a spare room to go to. So i use these WITH sillicone earplugs. They are very good, have soft padding around your ear and i can even manage to sleep with my head on the side. Wouldnt do without them.

I've used Peltor protectors since the 1980's and they are second to none. Despite trying other makes - none has been as comfortable and durable as Peltor.

- They take out the high frequencies which damages your hearing. If you want more attenuation then go for the Optime II or even the Optime III. This is what the ground crew use at airports.
- Comfortable - you can wear them for hours (I play drums and use them for hours on end). Sure you can get sweaty but the convenience of being able to take them on and off quickly make me prefer them over earplugs.
- Top notch quality - I still have a pair from the early eighties.
- Spare parts are available.
- You can get kids ones.
- You can wear them with glasses
- If you want to listen to music you can wear in-ear head phones under the protectors

Compared to other makes there are only positive things to say; They sit comfortably, don't press too hard on your skull and do what they need to do.

From my experience the models are suitable for...
- Optime I: Hand tools, drilling, jig saws, ect. Gardening tools like petrol mowers, trimmers, loud/live music
- Optime II: Heavy tools - large angle grinders, hammer drills, engine tuning
- Optime II: Very loud environments - Airports, pneumatic drills, industrial use, severe snoring spouse

Whichever you choose. You won't be disappointed.
