Product Description

Book Description

This poem cycle deals with the year the author spent in treatment for
breast cancer

From the Author

Anna first posted this poem on her blog. Here are a few of the comments she
received in response to the work:

1. Thank you for allowing me to read 'Cancer Chronicles'. I think the way
you have written it is brilliant and completely absorbing.
If a publisher doesn't find that enough of a hook they must be mad.
Please accept my sincere wishes for all to be well. As a would be writer I
admire your spirit and your gutsy reaction to a rejection.

2. Hi - stunningly open piece of writing.

Warm wishes

3. This is really beautiful. That's the only word I can think of.

4. I read your wonderful writing and it made me remember my own mothers
thoughts when she had breast cancer. She said she found true friendship
where she hadn't expected it and vice versa. She also experienced people
crossing the road to avoid having to engage with her. Very hard. This was
in the late 70s so I hope people are less ignorant now.

I won't say you are brave because she hated it when people said that to
her. But I wish you well and hope you can get your life back to something
you enjoy. Illness like this makes you lose your innocence, (in the true
sense of the word), as in ignorance is bliss.

5.

Just read the cancer patient haikus from start to finish - and I don't
usually 'do' poetry - and found myself in tears. Would tell her so
directly, but it's blogger only commenting on her site. I hope some
publisher sees reason

6. Heartfelt and touching and so honest, it has me weeping!!

I too think there must be a place for this.
Keep well!

(REAL NAME)
This poem-cycle is an account of the author's personal encounter with breast cancer. It is harrowing, tender, funny, brutal and touching, involving the reader intimately in Anna Dickie's emotions and experiences. We learn a great deal as we read the book, laugh and cry with the writer and rejoice at the outcome. Buy it and read it!
