We bought this book when our child was seven months old because he loved playing peek-a-boo. The format is very simple - one large picture on each page with a pull-down flap to reveal the animal. The animal eyes are very large and this was a big hit with our son. He squealed with delight when I dropped the flap on each page. Now he is one he can open the pages and do "peek a boo" himself - reading at one!! Our version is now very tatty, particularly the page with the rooster on it! I would strongly recommend this as a first book.
