Bought this to charge my phone (Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus) while using it as a GPS (using offline mapping application OsmAnd) on long rides. It does the job of charging the phone, but with the GPS and the screen always on it only slowed down the battery drain on the phone over a few days rather than charging it (it worked well enough when the phone wasn't doing anything though).
The mount is quite bulky (as you can see on the pictures) and was a struggle to fit it around my thick mountain bike handlebars. One one ride I hit a pretty big bump and the phone flew out so I invested in a top tube bag (like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cycling-Bicycle-Pannier-Mobile-Holder/dp/B00CWRH6OM/ref=sr_1_7?s=sports&ie=UTF8&qid=1397080512&sr=1-7&keywords=bike+phone+holder ) with a see through phone section and put the little black box with the USB port on it that charges the phone in there. That helps keep the phone a bit dryer in the rain too.
The dynamo with it is pretty cheap too, the spring in mine was pretty bad so it didn't make good contact with the wheel. Another dynamo did the trick though (it runs off a standard 6V dynamo like most dynamo bike lights do).
Overall it's cheap relative to most units like this so worth a try, but ultimately paying a bit more for a better system might be worth while. You get what you pay for!

First the mobile phone holder - installing was a pain - the frame on my mountain bike isnt particularly large for a mountain bike but the design of the fittings meant I could not mount this with the screws provided nor the hook and hinge that you are meant to use on one side of the fitting. Fortunately I carry a big supply of cable ties of differing lengths and thickness and was able to secure the mount to my handlebars securely using them. The mount for the USB plug in is somehow meant to fit beneath your handlebar mount using the supplied fittings - never in a million years! Had to secure this to my frame instead, again using the cable ties I had (they only supply you with one of these by the way!).

So, the mount in place I then tackled the dynamo. Well it wouldnt fit on the front forks as the fastening arm isnt that long (and again I think my forks were a tad too thick for the fitting anyway), so had to mount on the rear forks. Not a problem, went on easy enough, and just wrapped the electric cable around the frame between that and the usb connector (there is plenty of wire so you shouldnt have any problems with reach). However, the power output seems poor from the dynamo - okay I was riding off road and as I'm not the fittest or fastest around I was only averaging 10mph, but it certainly doesnt produce enough juice for my Windows Phone to be able to charge AND run any power hungry applications (such as my location tracker) - and once my battery had totally died on me it just couldnt generate enough power to even get it restarted.

I think that if you want to charge your phone with this you need to be going on a long ride at a fair pace and have no applications running.
