Quite good 15 May 2011
By x iLeon
Format:Paperback
I have a number of resources on singing technique, of which Jeffrey Allen's Secrets Of Singing has proved to be the most useful. Vocal Workouts starts with some basic info on how to approach singing and practice, how to warm up physically and vocally, mental approach (part of which I found enlightening), what to watch out for and so forth. Then there are a number of exercises in different contemporary music idioms. I found some of the exercises a little difficult to follow and wasn't always entirely sure about what I was aiming for. However, this title did add to my practice - at the moment I am using a combo of class and private (book-led) practice, as I don't have money for private tuition, and I am seeing results!

Waste of money 10 Nov 2011
By Fi
Format:Paperback
I teach singing, and was looking to find some more 'hip' warm ups for the boys and more contemporary orientated singers in my studio. This book's author has credibility as a teacher of contemporary voice, however I found this book to be a total waste of cash. The CD was awkwardly laid out and not clear to follow from book. Not enough reason was given as to the purpose or point of each exercise. a money spinner. I took one of the excercises from the boo0k but had to vamp my own accompaniment to it as the CD version was far too conveluted. Waste of money.

Handy Book 25 Oct 2010
By Fran
Format:Paperback
As a follow up to the first book there is a little bit of repetition but not overly so. It has more useful exercises than the first and the workouts are very good and easy to follow in the book. I will find it very useful as a singing teacher. Very good if you want to learn as an individual.
