This is the 10th pearsons I have bought. I have tried other maps including Nicholsons and find these are the easiest to follow and have lots of interesting and amusing passages. They are written as the canal has been navigated so it's like having someone on board giving you a guided tour - brilliant. The only thing is that you may need to buy updates and sometimes you find things are different but that will apply to all maps, that aside I would recommend all Pearsons guides above the others.

Micheal's guides are the most informative and easy to use guides available. They are also a good read in their own right.
