Product Description
Janis Joplin died in 1970 at the age of 27. This edgy talented emotional drifter was as lost as anyone you will meet in either fiction or non-fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars I got dem ol' Kozmic Blues again, mama!, 12 Jul 2004
By Amy Connolly - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is the only book ive read [so far] about Janis, but it told the story straight. It encorporates accounts from friends and lovers with Ellis Amburns obvious curiosity about her life. He doesnt leave anything out or anything unsaid.

At first, you hate Janis for throwing away all she had, but in the end you realise she didnt really have that much in the first place. Music was her outlet and she threw it away because of drugs and lack of love she felt from those around her.

It also writes an amusing description of Janis' affairs with just about anyone she could get her hands on! Many of these, would later become superstars themselves! and although she slept with men, its clear that Janis was happier with women.

The book also describes the fabulous music scene of the sixties.

I love this book! cant get across how much it made me love her even more! *hehe*

Although she died young, she obviously made an impression on soo many people, as accounts from those, some who, at first were reluctant to talk, had alot to say about her - good and bad!

Enjoy!

xx

5.0 out of 5 stars little girl blue, 8 April 2009
I love Janis and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's well written and entertaining without being OTT. It documents insightfully her early dreary days in Port Arthur to the decadence of San Fran, and her untimely death in the Landmark. I always get shivers when I hear her voice, I imagine her inner torment. and this biography does well in revealing what the real Janis, the person, was like. Well worth reading. She was such a good time girl. RIP X

5.0 out of 5 stars A Woman Left Lonely, 16 April 2008
This is a great book, informative and well written. It portrays the crazy and sad life of a woman who influenced music at a time when anything went. Although it sometimes makes for uncomfortable reading I would recommend this to anyone, whether they're a fan or just have a passing interest in this much missed artist.
