Product Description

Product Description

Old Fashioned Crunchy is a great tasting, all-natural peanut butter made with our special blend of perfectly roasted peanuts and just a tiny bit of salt. Full of chopped peanuts, it's a tasty way to add flavour and texture to celery sticks, oatmeal, toast, ice cream, and more. Old Fashioned Crunchy is a natural peanut butter which means that we don't add any other oils or sugar to it. If the natural peanut oil starts to separate, just stir it back in. This peanut butter may be a little softer than some other varieties you've tried. The shelf life is six months after opening, if stored in a cool, dry place. No need to refrigerate, but it will help keep the oil from separating if you stick it in the fridge after you stir it up.

Ingredients

Peanuts (99.5%), salt.

First came across this in Tesco a few years ago and was mightily impressed with the quality but they stopped selling it. Then discovered Amazon selling it in six-packs no less so hurriedly placed an order. Still the best PB I've tasted, not too sweet and with a good rough consistency -perfect on toast, in sandwiches or on plain crackers or biscuits. No downside, I even look forward to mixing up a new jar when it's opened. I use a big fork to create holes for oil to soak into then spend about five minutes carefully blending it all together (the oil can be messy). Incidentally it does not contain Palm Oil as one reviewer reports. If you read the website properly Palm Oil is only used in some of the other "flavoured" PB&Co products. They also note that they only buy Palm Flower Oil (not Nut) from sources that are part of a sustainable farming group backed by the likes of the World Wildlife Foundation.

It helps to store it upside down and then stir quite well, but that is a small price to pay.
This is the best peanut butter, ....Jeremy Clarkson pause..........pause...... In the world!

I'm a big fan of peanut butter, and have heard of varieties that contain no palm oil for a while, but have never tried one. Since I've recently increased my consumption as a relatively healthy lunch time snack to avoid having sandwiches, I thought I'd give the healthier alternative a try.

The first thing you notice is that these come in plastic jars, rather than the glass that I'd expected. I know that glass is a better long-term protector, nevertheless the use-by date on these is April 2013, giving about 8 months of shelf life, which is plenty for me!

You're supposed to mix the peanut butter when you first open it (though the jar I've tried so far didn't *look* like it needed mixing, I didn't fancy risking it). The only note I want to make about this is that the jars are filled quite close to the top, so you need to take a bit of care if mixing inside the jar.

The jar itself, even though the product is imported from the US, has a British label on it, so you can find all of the same information you'd expect on there. Calorie wise, it's about the same as any other peanut butter, but without the oil it's going to be better for you.

The taste is amazing. It's very sticky and very tasty, which is a slight surprise since it has no additives or flavour enhancers. It's also literally crammed with nuts.

It's quite expensive when compared to peanut butter you can buy in this country - it's on par with organic brands - but for the taste and lack of additives, I think it's worth it.

The final point I've noticed is that it's very runny. It basically falls out of the jar and doesn't need much spreading. I'm undecided as to whether I like it or not - I find it more often falls out or off whatever I put it on, but only slightly. I'm not entirely sure why it's so runny as I've never seen a peanut butter like it, but with the taste I'm not complaining.

I've tasted just about every brand of peanut butter on the market and in my opinion this company makes the best. Two ingredients: peanuts and a tiny pinch of salt, no sweeteners or harmful additives and not a trace of unbelievably unhealthy ( not to mention environmentally destructive) palm oil. Yes there is some separation of oil which you need to stir in carefully but it's not really an issue to be honest. The only negative point is the price but everyone's got to make a living I suppose. The real deal!!

When I was a young boy, I remember opening a jar of 'Sunpat' peanut butter, and having to stir in the oil that would be floating on top. It was delicious and not the dry stuff they produce today. Having tried a couple of different American peanut butter brands, I finally stumbled on Peanut Butter & Co's 'Old fashioned crunchy'. It evokes childhood memories for me, and it tastes great. If you haven't tried it yet....DO!

I bought these in a 6 pack largely based on the tact (at the time) that it was the most popular peanut butter in the USA.

It's a very thick peanut butter with lots of visible nut pieces in it and it certainly tasted good when I ate it with a large table spoon. I took these with me when I was working away for 1 month and they were an ideal food to take as it was quite healthy, had plenty of calories and a decent amount of protein, carbohydrates and healthy fat.

Although it tasted good I found that it was too thick to handle most of the time and if you are looking for a peanut to spread over a sandwich or put on a cup cake etc I would only recommend a smooth peanut butter. If you want a tasty thick nutty one that you can eat from the jar then this is ideal.

Verdict: Tasty, Nutty And Thick.

This is honestly the most delicious peanut butter in the world.
No rainforest-destroying palm oil in here! This peanut butter is made of only peanuts, and a hint of salt - yet is somehow so much more delicious than any other brand I have tried!
