Shame to see so little of Working Week's material now available. Even now, they are up there with the best soul/R&B music available anywhere. This collection provides a summary of the career of the trio - cool and bluesy vocalist Julie Roberts (no relation!), guitarist Simon Booth and saxophonist Larry Stabbins. Backed by some of the finest session musicians around, the three were introduced just hours before recording their first album, Working Nights, but contrive to sound like they had been recording for years.
Thoroughly recommended - this is exceedingly high-quality music.
Any regrets? Only the omission of the jazzy latin-influenced instrumental No Cure No Pay, magnificent version of Marvin Gaye's Inner City Blues, and the heart-rending Are You On Your Own Tonight.
