Rather disappointing 28 Nov 2005
I really wanted to like this oven glove but it had one big flaw. If you take, for instance, a casserole out of the oven and don't put it down immediately, the glove is going to get unbearably hot. Worse than that, once the glove is hot, even if you put the hot thing down, it STAYS hot and you have to take it off - it takes ages to release the heat. There is a maximum temperature for the glove and for lower temperatures it's OK, but for oven stuff I don't consider it very effective. It's also rather stiff and if you're thinking of this for a frail relative, they won't be able to close the glove very easily.

my glove arrived yesterday and it looks and feels awful I've got to say. I have not used it yet so cannot comment on whether it gets hot or not but as it is so big, inflexible and uncomfortable (quite like a mitt),I don't think I'll feel safe enough to use it. I'd be worried that I would not have enough grip and drop off hot oven dishes etc...

I have now used it and it does get hot, I am not going to use it again....

Better than before 25 Oct 2005
By A Customer
I've been a fan of Silicone Oven Gloves for years now although this new model is better than ever due to the separate thumb and finger, a real glove rather than mitt, plus much improoved flexibility. If you have never used a silicone oven glove then give it a go. They are waterproof so you can lift an egg out of boiling water, no need to worry about a thumb in hot fat, even move your BBQ coals about. And for cleaning just use warm soapy water in put it in the dishwasher.
