A beautiful, scholarly, readable book that brings to the public photographs and content not seen before. Ravishing full-page illustrations and extensive details of Pavlova's English tours. Sadly, no index, but in spite of that, this book is a must-have for anyone who loves the ballet.

This is a beautiful book, full of very beautiful photographs. Pavlova remains an enigma in relation to her private life and fair to say this book does not answer the questions. It is not a biography in words, but in photos it covers her dancing life from the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg to her worldwide tours and residence in London.

I thoroughly recommend this book. Great value for money.

I gave this book as a gift, so I have not read it myself. However, the book is filled with wonderful pictures of Pavlova in her daily life as well as dancing. A GREAT book for any ballet history buff.

Pavlova developed spin in more ways than one. 24 Nov 2013
By John H. Turner - Published on Amazon.com

She was the first ballet legend for whom we've so much documentation. For a balanced picture, one must also read Karsavina, Diaghilev's Ballerina. Both are awash in photos, often never before seen in books, and the copy makes real people of them.
