Though I detest opera it has to be admitted that Pavarotti has managed something decades of classical music snobs never managed to do and thats to recognise that music is for everyone and it makes no difference whether that music is pop rock folk or country
At one time The Gramophone wouldn't review or feature Jazz or musicals but nowadays Classical FM put a stop to that
This has a nice 16 page booklet and is one of a series of CDs by Pavarotti with rock stars focusing on the world's most troubled areas for charity, this being the 2nd for War Child
Appearing without Pavarotti are a group of kid rappers called Gam Gam who perform a nursery rhyme called Clap Clap and this is what became in the 60s The Clapping Song by Shirley Ellis revived in the 80s by the Belle Stars

Pavorotti and Friends cover some of the most enjoyable Pavaorotti tracks. Pavarotti organised a series of charity concerts to benefit children in Cambodia, Bosnia, Thailand, Cambodia and Liberia amongst other countries, and the proceeds from these albums help to set up and provide running costs for these childrens foundations. Pavorotti invited some of his favorite pop stars and musicians to join him in his home town of Modena,Italy every two years during the 1990's and the whole series of Pavarotti and Friends are highly recommended collectors albums. The arrangements are amazing and of course you have arguably the best voice of the 20th century performing without the stuffiness of a full opera recital.
