One of my favourite tracks is 'Run Away' - very reminiscent of the late, great Roy Orbison. I also love 'It was a very good year' - totally different from Frank Sinatra's version!
It really is a shame that not more people bought this album and made it the hit it trully deserved to be. It is an album which has instant appeal - the songs are very listenable on first hearing - and get better the more you hear them.
I have been a fan of Paul Young's for many years. I still think 'Wherever I Lay my Hat' is one of his best offerings. However, if you want to get a taste of Paul Young's new direction, look out for a band called 'Los Pacaminos' - this is Paul's tex-mex band...
The entire album has a country/rock feel to it & songs like the nice 'Vanish' & 'It was a very good year' reflect this.
'I Wish You Love' was the single release in 1997 but the beatiful ballard Tularose never made it as a single & should have.
The opening track 'Ball & Chain' starts the flow of the album, lively & upbeat & by time you hear 'Window World', the last track, you just want to hear it all again.
This is certainly Pauls best work to date & at the ripe old age of 43, Paul Young is not young any more but his work has matured...like a fine wine. A totally excellent album by a totally excellent singer.
