As well as my books, I have written over twenty papers for journals and contributed over forty chapters to other people's books. I've been keynote speaker at national and international conferences and I have a deep commitment to the person-centred approach. When I first statrted work, I was a civil servant. Later I became a research ecologist until retraining in counselling and psychotherapy in the 1980s. After some years in practice and management in a social services department, I was an academic for nearly 20 years. I am now very happy working for myself as and when I want to! My daughter and four grandchildren, other family and friends are very important to me and I love to spend time with them. I also like to walk in the countryside, to dance and I appreciate good food and good wine.
