Any fans of Monopoly who have considered this as a personalised version of the popular game - it's not.
The tag line goes: "Custom make your very own board game - With just some scissors, a PC & any simple colour printer" - the key words in this sentence are BOARD GAME, not monopoly game. For starters, there aren't as many squares on the board as proper Monopoly & there's no Jail square. They've also introduced a lottery square, where you bet to try & roll a certain number.
Besides not being the same board, inside the box is a board, a few sheets of printer paper, some printable stickers, a CD ROM, six plastic counters & two dice. The instruction book is vague & doesn't come with any rules for the game, so those unfamiliar with monopoly will be unsure of what do do.
You also don't have any option for houses & hotels or rent cards, so there isn't really anywhere for the game to progress once you've all bought the properties.
Overall, very disappointing.

Bought this for my 9 year old daughter for Christmas 2008. She couldn't wait for me to install the software on the computer to create all the street and any other building names (we had everything from her room to Dad's shed!) and details for the two sets of cards - obviously we used phrases relating to our own family! You can even include pictures by using supplied graphics or take your own with your digital camera and upload them - which is what we did!

You can print your own money and include any photo you like (we chose our own faces on the centres of the notes) and you even get templates for changing the name of the game all over the box and play board - instead of being called "Mon" opoly, ours was called "Ellis-opoly"!

This is exactly like playing the old Monopoly, but customised however you wish - we choose street names of our friends, family and around our area. Instead of the old boot, dog, ship pieces, however, you receive different coloured plastic pieces ... but we customised these too by sticking pictures of our faces on them!

Its very educational too .. our daughter is usually the banker and looks after the money so she has to do all the calculations for purchasing property and has to make sure she gives out the correct change, etc, as well as adding up rental values - getting in lots of practice ready for the real world!

Trouble is, she still wants to play it 24/7! Definitely the best game ever purchased!

I bought this with some doubts having read the other reviews on this site, so I knew a bit of what to expect.
On the plus side, the concept is really good - a totally unique board game - would make a great present, or family project. The software is very user friendly, it opens up with the basic board, then you enter your own street names, chance cards etc and then just follow the printing intructions, stick it all together and you're done. Pretty staightforward, easy and quite quick to do. The sample games on the CD-ROM have some good ideas for inspiration.
On the negative side, as other reviewers have said the quality of the materials is pretty poor - cheap card and plastic pieces. The lottery squares seem unnecessarily complicated especially for kids. The finished game is a bit limited - can't buy houses or anything for the properties. I resorted to buying a new complete game and ripping off the pieces, hotels etc, and designing my own title deeds.
If I wanted to ever do the same thing again I think I would buy an ordinary monopoly set, some card and sticky paper, a bit of imagination and give it a personal revamp.

What a great idea for a board game. The most famous game in the world 'Monopoly' can be turned from the streets of London into your very own city/town/village/hamlet/shed!
The game comes with a CD that allows you to create the street names, chance cards, etc. The cool thing about this novel idea is that you can write on the chance/community chest cards stuff like 'Dad caught speeding again. Collect £20 from each player' or 'Mum robbed high street bank. Receive £10 for keeping your mouth shut'! It's brilliant!!
Creating your own Mononpoly board game is a great twist to the series, and adding a personal touch really makes for a quality family game!

Echo the comments about the quality of some of the materials - but that's easily solved if you're really that bothered about thickness of card(!). The software is a bit clunky but works fine. With a bit of care, this is a good and inexpensive way to produce an original gift which the recipient will probably love - as long as you're prepared to put some time and thought into how you customise it. In this case, it really is the thought that counts and people who are disappointed because it isn't really Monopoly have completely missed the point!

we bought this expecting it to be very monopoly like with the added bonus of customisation to fit our family... unfortunately it is a very poor replica of monopoly, and very 'budget' in its appearance...
- there are no instructions on how you are supposed to play
- the prices of the properties are preset and arent like the real monopoly
- you can't build houses or hotels, at least there aren't any provided
- the pieces are rubbish
all in all you have a game thats a very poor approximation of what you expect it to be, and the customisation is all your own input so you might as well just make your own game from scratch.
