This book is great! In its small introduction, Patti Smith says that she is not a photographer. Neither am I and I truly enjoyed looking at the pictures. They are minimal, some are blurry, some have movement, some are off-center. There is an artistic freedom about them with which, as an artist myself, I can totally relate. The handwritten descriptions, although at times illegible, bring out a vintage quality to this work.
An expression says that a picture is worth a thousand words. This collection of pictures taken throughout a lifetime portrays a story, the story of a unique personality, a pioneering singer and above all, a woman.
I would definitely recommend this book.
