Pattern sourcebook 2 Sep 2010

Format:Paperback
Excellent designs and information from where they are taken from. The CD is an additional bonus giving the viewer the chance to look into the patterns in more depth. Also a useful teaching aid.

Personal preference 24 April 2010
By Mary J. Bedy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Please note I have not used the CD that came with this book, I'm only giving my opinion of the designs. I disagree with the reviewer that says the color combinations are "sickly and spooky". Everyone's taste in design is different. I purchased this book as a source for inspiration for my own designs, and I'm really drawn to the muted browns, tans, teals and grays in several of these designs. There are some more colorful designs as well. If you like stylized designs, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, simplified and sometimes symbolic representations of floral designs, birds and leaves, I think you will like this book. But, as I said previously, everyone's taste is different, so look through the pages you can view here before purchasing and see if those few pages appeal to you.

I believe you will either love the designs in this book or they will leave you flat, as they are quite taste specific. I intend to collect the other books by this author as well.

Great collection 22 Nov 2010
By Karen M. Lehman - Published on Amazon.com

We are a graphic design firm always researching patterns for the products we work with. These patterns provided a great collection of inspiration in intriguing colors and pattern combinations. Great for research, recommend all the lines in the series and would purchase more.

less class, more kitch 3 Jan 2010
By J. Smiley - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
page 6: "we have modified many .... to present them in our own original layout and coloring." Yeah, indeed. Even though you can change the colors yourself with the psd files as they are they are a little strange- somehow the designer's changes takes these classic designs and makes some of them seem spooky and sickly because of odd color changes and softer, cartoon-like shapes..
