Product Description

For an undergraduate course in Fashion.

Renowned for its comprehensive coverage, exceptional illustrations, and clear instructions, This hallmark text offers detailed yet easy-to-understand explanations of the essence of patternmaking. Hinging on a recurring theme that all designs are based on one or more of the three major patternmaking and design principles—dart manipulation, added fullness, and contouring—it provides students with all the relevant information necessary to create design patterns with accuracy regardless of their complexity.

I read this book when I was an undergraduate student as a fashion major. Even though I was an international student, this book offered me to learn about almost everything about pattern making. No matter what I designed, I could choose patterns from this book and changed slightly. There are lots of appliable sources and it's so easy. Although I've read other pattern making books, I stronly recommend this book.

I have nothing but praise for this. It has stopped me making all sorts of mistakes when altering patterns, and it is what I turn to when I am stuck in my pattern-cutting course. It was only after studying this book in depth that I was able to understand what the other books were talking about!

Get it, even if you only alter patterns; you'll be so much happier!

I have searched far and wide, bought booookkkks, i mean a whole library of books on pattern making, but t his one stands out!!!!
I mean i made a pair of pants that fitted, i didnt even have to make a mock up from the pattern.
Though quite expensive i have no complaints at all.
Its value for money.
I will surely more of Helen's books!
Word of warning though,....i dont think this book is for a complete beginner! It doesnt teach you how to build the bodice block from scratch!
