5.0 out of 5 stars At last it's available in English!! 6 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
I have waited so long for this book to be translated into English and was delighted to see it as released in the UK recently. It is a fantastic, advanced, pattern drafting/cutting book with some fabulous Avant Garde designs in it. I wouldn't recommend someone to use it who doesn't have a solid grounding in pattern drafting but otherwise go for it and push yourself! The results are stunning and the book is incredibly cheap for what it is. For a translated text it is written with surprisingly clear and concise English and didn't notice any "pigeon" English excerpts, which is something you ususally see when being translated from one language to another. Thoroughly recommmend this book and NO. 2 which is due out next year.

5.0 out of 5 stars i adore it. 16 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
I discovered this wonderful series in Japan a few years ago and have actually bought many copies of it in the past to give to friends and colleagues all over the world. It wasn't previously translated into English, but even so, if you are a technically competent patterncutter, it was possible to work from the diagrams and measurements themselves. Now they are in English!!!
These books are extraordinary gems. They bring the art of creative cutting to a wider audience and are truely inspirational and exciting.
If you are a cutter, or a fashion student, order this as soon as possible - the price is way too low for the secrets held within.
I love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Approach to Pattern Cutting 4 Nov 2010
By Fleur
Format:Paperback
I have been waiting for this to be translated to English & was very excited when it arrived.

The book is clean, clear & concise so I can see how it's still understandable for those who cant read Japanese. The approach to pattern cutting is fun, simple but ever so effective & challenges you to think beyond the standard european shapes we are so used to seeing in clothing.

It shows you the finished item, then guides you through the concept & then build upong it to use it in another context.

I plan to use this as a starting block to push my technique & imagination to create shapes/scupltures beyond the ones in the book (hopefully!)

fantastic and would reccomend it to anyone who has knowledge of pattern cutting.
