The quote from Maxim Magazine in March 2000 stating Pattaya was the most dangerous places on the planet and you shouldnt go, is a typical stereotype quote from a magazine that wants to sell you sex & crime. The media are no long our friends but our enemies, They visit Pattaya saying they will tell the true side of the city and end up editing it in a negative way dragging the reputation of Pattaya into a downward spiral thats beyond repair. They want to sell SEX & CRIME to the public. They dont care about the real side of the city. This has made the people of Pattaya angry towards the worlds media. They dont believe that this negative coverage is warranted. For the very first time this is a film that looks closely at the other side of this unique city. This film is from a truly unbiased view into some of the citys unknown secrets. Everybody was given the chance to tell their side of the story. Exclusive interview with Belgium star singer song writer Louis who wrote the citys most famous song Pattaya-Pattaya which is constantly played in most of the bars. For the first time ever Pattaya has been given the voice it deserves. The film is an ideal investment if you have never been to Pattaya and thinking of going in the near future. It will give you a great insight into what to do and what not to do how to treat the girls etc. Nine people from businessmen, bar owners, tourists male and female feature to give the viewer the best possible prospective on what its really like to live, work and visit Pattaya. All are honest in what they say. As you watch the film they will give you a totally different way of thinking towards the city, even if you are a regular visitor to Pattaya.

In contrast to all the superficial and stereotypical documentaries (especially the ones produced in the UK) about Thailand and Pattaya in particular, this documentary is positively refreshing by covering the many positive reasons (not only the very open bar scene) for living or visiting the city of Pattaya - the 'city that never sleeps', but also covering the numerous 'riddles' Western people find themselves confronted with when having to deal with Thai culture and attitudes towards life, work, sex and love.

It is not a scientific or objective documentary by any means, but definitely worth watching for anyone who really wants to achieve a better understanding of this truly colorful city.

to be fair, there's not many dvds available about Thailand, but this one is only good for young guys which need to convince their parents to let tham go to Thailand, and Pattaya in particular. or if you were considering a change from abusing the waiters in Majorca etc. it has interviews with a few Brit and Belgian and a German expat and one Thai lady and doesn't contain anything of interest about Thailand. personally, i'd never go to Pattaya anyway.
