Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review
Patsy Palmer's Club Workout is upbeat, it's got a strong beat, and beats most exercise videos for sheer fun. It's filmed in a nightclub where Patsy and her trainer, Niki Wibrow, strut their stuff on the stage to the sounds of get-up-and-dance chart music. "Remember, do what you can and have a laugh", is Patsy's motto. She explains that gyms and diets are not for her, and that dancing is the only exercise she enjoys, especially after she decided to lose a stone in weight and tone up after the birth of her new baby. Enter Niki Wibrow, a pretty dynamic personal fitness trainer, who combines dance moves with exercise. By following the workout routines, Patsy has shed the excess weight, including two inches off her hips, all without dieting.

After the warm-up section, the routines--entitled "Crazy Legs", "Slap Happy" and "Jump 'N' Scream"--grow more lively. The combination of Niki's encouragement to "Come on guys", and the irresistible music propels you along. The routines are fairly easy to follow, and none of the exercises is either impossible or dangerous. Another plus is that the workout transfers well to a small space, so it easily can be done in your bedroom or living room. Patsy Palmer is not a super fitness freak. She's more like the regular girl next door who might be dancing around her handbag. There's a feel-good factor to the video. You get the impression Patsy's genuinely enjoying it, and really having a good laugh. The last time many of us saw Patsy Palmer on the small screen, she was sobbing in EastEnders. It's nice to see that actually she's one of the world's great gigglers. --Joan Byrne

4.0 out of 5 stars How to exercise and not really notice!, 11 Sep 2002
By A Customer
This really does leave you feeling like you have worked yourself, even though it is over before you know it!
I was a bit put off the first time I did it as some of the moves were slightly complicated. After that though, it really did get easier each time! It's now one of my favourite exercise video's.
The toning section is pants though, being completely made up of sit-ups. But then again, every sit-up counts! Patsy using the ball doesn't really matter because you can easily follow on the floor.
TIP: If anyone has got a trampette gathering dust, dig it out. It can take the pressure off your knees in the final section 'Jump & Shout', which can be done entirely on the 'bounce'. (It is still managable without it though!)
Music you will recognise, funky work-out gear, and the fact that Patsy and her trainer do seem like they are having a laugh helps you get through this fun and effective video!
Great fun for fat burning but you will need extra toning sessions unless you are already at maintanence level.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!! energising and Fun!!!, 14 Mar 2001
By A Customer
I consider myself to be the expert with regards to fitness videos I have a variety and my favourite which you cannot buy in the UK anymore is Jane Fonda's 'Lean Routine'. Which is a dance video. Having done this since about 1994 I was becoming bored. Until that is I bought patsy palmers video!!! All I can say is WOW it is brilliant!!!!!! The music is great and the moves are complicated at first, but stay focused and you will get them. This video really works you to the LIMITS especially the last section which involves Jumping Phew!!!! would definitley recommend this video to anyone who likes dance music and wants a thorough and not too lengthy workout.

2.0 out of 5 stars Original but not for beginners, 4 Oct 2001
By A Customer
I bought this video having heard a friend rave about it. It's a very good idea but doesn't quite come off. The idea is you can burn calories by dancing them away - true, but when you're left standing there trying to figure out what Patsy and her trainer are doing because the moves are pretty difficult to follow after the first few minutes, then you end up burning off not very much at all! Even Patsy seems to find some of it a bit too complex to follow at times.

The music is, erm, interesting, there's lots of shouting and lights flashing so bright you have to squint to see what the pair are doing. The floor exercise section heavily promotes the use of a huge ball - you're left feeling you ought to go out and buy one in order to do the exercises properly. This point isn't addressed in enough detail on the video cover, and I don't feel that's right.

I don't think this video is for beginners at all. Perhaps the wording on the cover could've made this more explicit. It's an interesting concept but I was ultimately disappointed.
