Patrizio's new album is another masterpiece in the art of crooning. To my ear it has a much more relaxed and romantic mood than his previous two albums. I am sure that I will have many hours of listening enjoyment. It is a very slick and polished production musically and I believe it represents more of the real Patrizio.

It contains some readily identifiable covers by name but Patrizio has given them a very special treatment which makes them his own and in my opinion better than the original. I particularly like Crazy and Fly Me to the Moon. Others songs I enjoy are You're My Everything and the original song Why Did You Have To Be which should surely be a hit.

There continue to be some songs from the Italian songbook such as Mambo Italiano and Grande Grande Grande (Never Never Never) and Americano which will please aficionados of the first two albums.

Broadening his appeal is less reliance on the combination of Italian/English in the songs reflecting his growth, development and worldwide popularity as an accomplished singer and also recognising that English is the language of music. True fans will applaud and support this enhancement of his style.

To those fans recently discovering Patrizio I can highly recommend his first two albums which showcase his vocal versatility. With the spread of choice over three albums there should be something for everyone to enjoy.

Patrizio's 3rd album is nice to listen to. Unfortunately though, he seems to have been pushed into singing several songs that seem targeted towards the American market, where he was on tour for 2-3 months last year. The songs 'On the street where you live, Mambo Italiano, Have You Ever Really Loved A Women, Crazy and Fly me to the Moon' have been sung very well by him, but are not able to truly show how much vocal talent he really has, of which he was very able to show in his first two albums 'Forever Begins Tonight' then 'The Italian.' If you are already a Patrizio fan you may enjoy it, but if you have never heard his incredible, passionate and powerful voice before, you may be dissapointed, as this album is average to me. Definitely buy the other 2 albums if you have not been introduced properly to him yet. I hope his following album (presuming there will be one) will contain songs that take him and us back to his cultural roots of Italy, as well as some powerful, emotional and genuine Italian versions of more modern classics that we love. I hope he will be on tour in Italy or Uk this year, singing all his best Aria's, none of which are on this 3rd album, rather his classics like 'Il Mondo,''Soli', 'Parla Pui Piano,' Amore scusasmi,' Luno Mezza Mare & 'Forever begins tonight.' FANTASTICO!

** and 1/2.
While his previous albums, "The Italian" and "Forever Begins Tonight", focused on Italian songbook classics and adaptations of English-language pop songs, romantic balladeer Patrizio Buanne's first release since signing a major-label deal with Warner Records is a much more conventional affair that recalls the contemporary swing-pop output of Michael Bublé.
Produced by Humberto Gatica (Elton John), the Napoli baritone's self-titled third studio album sees him perform predominantly in English for the first time, a move that has resulted in a slightly more accessible sound but one that has also robbed him of his unique selling point.
Renditions of big-band classics like Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon" and show tunes from My Fair Lady ("On the Street Where You Live") and Oklahoma ("I Can't Say No") are all competently performed, but without his seductive native-tongued delivery, they lack the intrigue, passion, and emotion of his previous work. Alongside cover versions of Patsy Cline's "Crazy", Rosemary Clooney's "Mambo Italiano", and Santa Esmeralda's "You're My Everything", there's also a fairly modern offering, Bryan Adams' Don Juan DeMarco theme "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?" and a brand-new song, "Why Did You Have to Be?", penned by the prolific Diane Warren.
But the album only really comes to life when Buanne reverts to his Italian roots, as on the gorgeous duet with Reneé Olstead on an interpretation of Italian classic and Shirley Bassey's it "Never, Never, Never".
"Patrizio" is a valiant attempt at mainstream easy listening pop, but it fails to offer anything new that will enable him to stand out from the plethora of modern crooners on the current music scene. J. O'Brien
