I can not tell you how much pleasure this recording has given me. Sutherland is superb and Bergonzi magnificant. The pace is measured and used to emphasize the drama. I feel sorry for contemporary singers having to compete with the strength of the back catalogue.

I bought the cd not because Maria Callas but Alfredo Kraus. He was one of my favourite tenors,he still is,and at the time of the recording he was at his best.
The sound sometimes is not great, but considering that it was a ''live'' recording ,and the date, I think that it is alright. For me it is just fine, and for any fan of Alfredo Kraus I recommend it.
