Format: Audio CD
Praise for British tenorman Paul Booth for providing us with another top quality album of contemporary straight ahead jazz.I have long been a fan of Mr Booth having seen him perform live on many occasions and few can match him for his free flowing post bop/modern technique and flow of creative ideas. This album hears him on tenor and soprano performing mostly originals plus a couple of standards.
He his joined by the always creative Phil Robson on guitar and special guest Ingrid Jensen on trumpet along with Phil Peskett(piano),Phil Donkin(bass) and Dave Smith(drums).
The strongest pieces are the originals "Tomorrows another day","Calm now" and "The squirrel" on which Booth builds some highly passionate solos that showcase his muscular tone and quickfire technique. There are some slower numbers to give the album balance but what you really want is to hear Booth in one of those passionate and free flowing solos of his.
The sound quality is superb and at seventy six minutes long there is plenty of listening enjoyment. One of the British jazz albums of the year.
You can also hear Booth on the Michael Janish album "Purpose built".
Buy (both if you like) and enjoy

Paul Booth is a gifted musician. This album is a must have for any smooth jazz fan. I find the music on this disc very soothing, and listing to it makes me forget the stresses of life and I feel rejuvenated. Experience Paul's musicianship yourself. You will find it to be money well spent.
