Lively session from the magic flute of Matt Molloy, with John Carty on the fiddle, Arty McGlyn on guitar, and Paul Gurney and Brian McGrath on keyboards.

The album was recorded at Matt Molloy's pub in Westport, Co Maigh Eo, Ireland in 2007.

I bought this CD after hearing them play a very enjoyable live concert last year. However, the effect is quite different here. I'm sure it was technically very well executed, but for me, the listener - it doesn't really work that well. I just couldn't really engage with it. Tunes seemed to merge one after the other without differentiation or distinction. There is just one 'air' Track 5, but even this has a strange droning keyboard backing, which I think detracts from the sound of the flute. It's a real pity - because Matt Molloy is a brilliant, world class flute player. And Carty and McGlyn are very talented and experienced performers too.

Some nice tunes, but I was constantly left with the feeling that it was all unnecessarily 'speeded up', like playing around with the old '78' settings when we were kids. Why always the constant rush...?? The urge to hit the 'stop' button, was very strong sometimes!

However, I'm sure there are many out there who will relish this CD, for the calibre of the artists, and because that sometimes rather frenetic Trad 'session' feel - is just what many people associate with Irish Traditional (Trad) music. It's just not my 'cupan tae'!
