The book covered the basic stuff on map reading in plain English, very good to get you started if you have never used a map. I guess most people can finish the whole book in couple of hours. But it lacks further reference for people who are interested to develop their skill further.

Having not read any OS maps for nearly 20 years, and started rambling, I found the book helpful in remembering the finer points of navigation. It would be a great book for a 1st timer or some one like me who needed some reminding how to map read, well written and easy to follow.

This book provides clear help on the basics of map reading for someone like myself who goes hill walking occasionally & lacks the confidence to read a map successfully. It is written in a 'chatty' style & is easy to understand.

A great way to learn the basics, and some slightly more advanced topics too. I've been using OS maps for years but after reading this book I finally understood what some of the squiggles mean - and, more importantly, I discovered how to use them in navigation.
