These update previous pathfinder guides with a good selection of moderately easy to moderately tough walks in this beatiful part of the country. Since inception, these guides have been among the clearest walking books to follow with routes clearly marked on actual sections of the ordnance survey 1:25000 maps. This new set gives the GPS grid reference of all the intermediate points which could be a real boon when there is bad visibility.If you like walking, the Lake district is ideal, and the set is well worth buying. We know the lakes well so we tend nowadays to use as the basis for longer walks combining several walks in one. I agree with the previous reviewer that it should be the same size as a folded OS map, since then it would fit into jacket map-pockets.

This is a good guide. I enjoy walking but I'm not a fanatic so I appreciate the help. The maps are clear and being ordnance survey, can be trusted. The information is useful and the print is easy to read when you are on the move. If I have a critisism it would be the size of the book because it didn't quite fit in my pocket and getting it in and out of my bag was a pain. Ofcourse all the good qualities of the book would be lost if they made it smaller for my benefit, so I will just have the live with it. Well worth a look.

I own several Pathfinder walking guide books and they never seem to disappoint - this is yet another which has a good selection of walks at all levels that are easy enough to follow and enjoy!!!
