This is not one of the better recordings by Show of Hands being purely instrumental and the themes of some of the themes in the tracks coming from other songs that they have recorded. In my view it is better suited as background music rather than "up in your face" or for die hard fans who wish to complete their collections. This is not to say that the album is awful however I do not think it up to the standard of other of their recordings but nonetheless the standard of musicianship is as high as ever.

I agree with the previous reviewer, this CD is a gem. It sums up so much that is important to me - music, the West Country, the sea, musicians with skill and integrity. I work outside of the UK and carry copies of this CD everywhere I go, to keep up my spirits and to give as gifts. Copies have be left behind in Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia, Sweden, Montenegro, Australia and Croatia, in bars and for friends. Recently, I sat at an outside bar in Dubrovnik, Croatia, over looking the Adriatic sea as I drank a cold beer. The Path played in the background, as the sun set and I hoped that the beautiful music was carrying as far away as Italy on the other side of the sea. Two days before, another copy had played in an Irish bar in Podgorica, Montenegro as I enjoyed a glass of stout. The Path reminds me of travelling and of being home, and proves that even without Steve Knightley's superb, challenging lyrics, Show of Hands are still 'as good as it gets'.

This has to be the ultimate "de-stresser" CD. Steve, Phil and guests have created a gem. Enjoy this instrumental recording and experience the magic of the West Country coastline for yourselves. Listen to this and you will be at peace with the world!.
