Cheap SCART cables really ain't worth the money,
By
This review is from: Path CS01-150 Moulded SCART Lead - 1.5m (Electronics)
Sadly my six year old Bush DVD player broke down beyond repair around three weeks ago, and while I was waiting to pick and buy a replacement, a friend of mine asked if he could borrow my existing SCART cable until I needed it back. Naturally I ordered my new DVD player from Amazon, and at the same time I decided to order another SCART cable. I just thought that it would be a good idea to get a cheap spare - after all there's not much difference between a £1 cable and a £10 cable (or so I thought)...
My SCART cable arrived the day before my DVD player, so I told my friend that I'm not in a hurry for my original cable back. I setup my player with the cable, and was surprised how loose it was in the socket. I didn't think that this was a major problem, after all I don't often move my entertainment unit so I guessed it would be alright. But after setting everything up and eagerly grabbing the first DVD I saw (Rush Hour) to try out, I was shocked to find very noticeable colour distortion (even in the DVD menu.) Assuming the worse, and after trying another DVD I thought that there was a fault in the DVD player. So slightly annoyed I phoned the manufactures helpline, and they quickly told me that my problem lies in my SCART cable. Sounds simple, but believe it or not I didn't even consider it as a possibility. So, alas my friend returned my original working cable, which I hooked up straight away, and to my delight my new DVD player works perfectly. Afterwards I was looking at both cables and the connections on them, and even my old SCART cable which cost my just less than a tenner several years ago looks better quality than this new cable. More to the point it works far better. I guess it does matter how much you spend on a cable. I'm a big believer in value for money, but sadly in this case I would advise you to avoid this cable and spend a few pound more on a better one.

Bought this a part of a dvd player package.Well as i said you get what you pay for-1st the casing fell off then there was a persistent hum on all the dvds whenever there should have been silence.A waste of £1.99-off to comet to get something better for my mother's Christmas present.

This scart lead is dirt cheap but I got fed up with it being a struggle to connect. I bought a better quality one that fits into my TV without any fuss.
