PLANNING MAP

I'm using this map as a planning map for a backpacking trip in 2011, and NOT for driving guidance or anything like that, so I can't speak for the road quality of this map.
It certainly has a lot of useful details about national parks, campgrounds, shelters, and roads between cities. Compared to the "Rough Guide" brand of travel maps, I would highly recommend this ITMB map instead. It just seems to have more relevant details. Like where border crossings are between Argentina and Chile, instead of just the line (thousands of miles) where the border is. This kinda stuff is more important to me so I can get my passport formalities out of the way and not enter a country illegally like I did once without knowing it.
Good map. Not laminated though.

Only worth it for Tierra Del Fuego

As the product details describe, this map has one side that features a view of Patagonia, and the other side has a close up of Tierra Del Fuego.
The side with Tierra Del Fuego shows excellent detail, so if you are going there, this is a fine map to have.
However, the detail on the Patagonia side is pathetic. I have the ITM South American Continent map, and it shows almost as much detail of Patagonia; it is also made of a higher quality paper; and to top it off, I think the large South America map is also about the same price as this map!
It's a bit frustrating that the most detailed area of the map does not include some of Patagonia's most visited areas, like Torres Del Paine, or Mt. Fitz Roy.
If you are not going to spend much time in Tierra Del Fuego, or if you are traveling more in depth in other areas of Patagonia, like Torres Del Paine or anything to the north of that, this map isn't much use.

Its good for an overview, but not great for actual road navigation. The scale is too great and since the signage in Argentina is dubious at best, the map may not always ensure that you don't miss your turn offs... We had to back track a few times on our travels
