Product Description

Product Description

For alpine climbers, river guides and ski patrollers, schlepping gear is in the job description. That's why they choose our Black Hole Duffels. Highly weather-resistant, they will protect your gear from rough handling. The U-shaped lid allows quick access to the main compartment, while two zippered internal mesh pockets keep small items organized. The padded bottom panel adds structure and helps cushion the load when your duffel gets the baggage-handler treatment. Carrying options include removable, padded and adjustable shoulder straps, webbing handles with a snap closure and haul loops at either end (to link multiple bags). Four daisy chains let you lash additional gear to the outside. A zippered exterior pocket holds the stuff you need to access quickly. Made from 14.7-oz 1,200-denier polyester (50% solution-dyed) with a TPU-film laminate and a DWR (durable water repellent) finish.

Everything I expected 12 Mar. 2012

I had been looking for a duffle for quite some time. I was working in afghanistan at the time so I decided to wait until I got home to buy one. My only requirement was it had to be large, no wheels and it had to have shoulder straps. I checked out the products from north face and osprey but this patagonia bag was the best. I ordered from amazon, there were cheaper offers online, but they did not offer the same color selections. First impression was that the bag was extremely well made. The material is very thick, zippers looked very durable. Inside it is just one large cavern. I traveled with it recently and it was stuffed to max capacity. All in my luggage weighed about 50 lbs. I thought it looked small after I pit everything in it but once I put it on my back a realized just how big the bag was. It held up great on my trip and was the perfect size to meet airline luggage weight allowance. If i could justify it I would also buy the 60L and 120L. It may sem a bit expensive but I find it well worth the cost.

Patagonia Black Hole Duffels: An Oustanding Line of Bags! 4 Dec. 2014
By SF - Published on Amazon.com
Colour Name: WhiteSize Name: One Size
I own almost the entire set of Black Hole duffels, including the 60L, 90L, 120L duffels as well as the 100L rolling duffel. I've been quite pleased with their performance after having dragged all four around the world. Thus far the bags have demonstrated an ideal combination of comfort, quality, durability, and of course space to haul stuff! The configuration, identical across all models, is perfect: a big hole to stuff everything but just a few small pockets (two interior pockets in the lid and one external side pocket) to organize key things. For additional organization, I just use drop-in organizers available from various brands. I also like the peace of mind that comes with Patagonia's bomb-proof warranty. The 90L is my second most used Black Hole duffel after the 60L. It is the perfect size for extended trips, etc., when a carry-on (e.g. the 60L) just isn't enough. For me the 90L is the perfect checked bag for air travel---I can fill it up without [usually] having to worry about it being overweight. It's also a manageable size to carry out of the airport, to the train, on the train, through the city sidewalks to wherever you're going. A minor complaint about the Black Hole duffels is the webbing on the shoulder straps coming unthreaded at the top attachment point. A few times I've had a strap unthread and pop loose at inconvenient times, i.e. running through a train terminal trying to catch my train with the 120L on my back. This has occurred on multiple models even after doubling the webbing back through the tri-glide buckle. Thicker webbing or different hardware would probably solve this problem. This is only a minor issue, though, and I will happily purchase more Black Hole duffels in the future. I enthusiastically recommend these bags to friends, coworkers, and family!

Well made 5 May 2012
By Kyle Claassen - Published on Amazon.com
This bag is very well made. Short of complete submersion, you won't get the contents wet. Good straps. Good handles. One improvement that could be made...let the shoulder strap pads be moveable. They are static toward one end, to be used as a back pack if necessary.

Great quality 28 July 2012

Wish it was more waterproof, but the zippers are not meant to protect stuff when the bag is submerged. Otherwise it is exactly what I hoped for and what was advertised.
New favorite Duffel 29 Jun. 2012

I was deciding between this bag and the North Face Base Camp. I'm really glad I chose this bag because it looks great, and holds a surprisingly large amount. At first I was underwhelmed with the size of this bag, but once I started using it, I fell in love. I will be purchasing another.
